met up with Isiah again, we couldn't meet on friday so we decided to hang out on sunday and watch the finals women UEFA women's euro final match. We met an embankment station and decided to walk up to Trafalgar square where it was being watched on a huge screen by tons of people. When we got there, the guy at the gate said that it was too full inside so we decided to walk around and try to find a pub we could watch it in. We found a pub but decided to walk around and look for a different one to go to but ended up watching it on our phones together sitting outside the area in Trafalgar square it was being shown in, only for a while. It was really fun actually, things like that never really bother or irritate me because it's still a memorable experience. After a while, we tried our luck again and it was successful this time, as we lined up to walk into the Trafalgar square we could hear the noise of the crowd, most times we couldn't tell if they were cheering or booing but as we finally found a place to sit, it all made sense.
It was 1-1, germany had scored and there were a few german fans in Trafalgar square too. I sometimes forget how diverse London is and completely forgot the fact that of course there would be fans supporting germany, although they were only a small group of them i surprisingly felt extremely irritated deep down when they began to cheer as germany scored a goal. I could feel that other england fans felt quite similarly as i saw different heads begin to turn towards them, i think they might have also been surprised too. Towards the end england scored again and it felt so good to watch with everyone and with Isaiah, we cheered, chanted, laughed the lot. Since the match only had a few minutes until it was over, everyone could tell that england was kind of wasting time by doing things like kicking the ball off-side and constantly passing the ball to each other across the pitch. It was hilarious, I heard a guy next to me say they should just start falling over, just to avoid german team from scoring another goal. It was end time, england had won, 2-1 and of course, it began to rain as soon as that happened as if the weather had predicted england would win and wanted to celebrate in the most british way possible, in the rain.
After that we decided to go to a pizza restaurant called Franco Manca, Isaiah had been interested in going and we shared a pizza and ordered drinks. The waiter told him that I'm pretty and that he's lucky to have me, I think he must have thought we were dating so I started laughing and said thank you. It's Isaiahs birthday next month so i got him a gift since he's going to start traveling soon, It was a mug that said 'I love jellied eels' and was filled with classic british sweets, our experience eating jellied eels is one I don't think we'll ever forget and now even if he tried too he can't because it'll be on a mug forever. I thought it was quite funny and he seemed to like it which i felt happy about. After that we decided to walk around, we heard music coming from the street the match had lead to and walk towards it. A crowd of people, celebrating and cheering 'it's coming home, it's coming, footballs coming home' I guess to most fans, this match felt like a second chance and it was nice to see. We walked for a while and it was very relaxing, Isaiah's planning to leave london on sunday and I thought i'd possibly be able to see him again but, a lot of things have happened recently and I don't think I could make time to hang out with him again. Although i wasn't aware of it at the time, it was a nice way of hanging for 'the last time' until he comes back to london again. He's a great friend.
